Welcome To Rugeley Power Station

A coal-fired power station produces electricity, usually for public consumption, by burning coal to boil water, producing steam which drives a steam turbine which turns an electrical generator.

Rugeley Power Station is committed to the generation of low cost electricity in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. As with all Coal Fired Power Stations, the site covers a large area and has a variety of buildings housing all the necessary plant and equipment used in the production process.

We regard safety as paramount and, as safety is a part of our business culture, we encourage everyone to play their part in making sure that Rugeley remains a safe place to work.

Rugeley produces approximately 1,000 megawatts of electricity, which is fed into the National Grid system at 400,000 Volts. The power output is enough to meet the needs of approximately 1/2 million homes.

Rugeley Power Limited is part of a joint venture between International Power plc and Mitsui & Co, LTD.

International Power is a wholly owned subsiduary of GDF SUEZ.
